Atkinson.FIGHTING WORDS: After shooting hours of interviews and re-enactment, searching many archives for hundreds of photos and vintage film clips, we are getting close to finishing this project. Postproduction will be completed by the end of November. September 1, 2005 The All-Canadian Jazz Festival, Port Hope March 22, 2005 Joseph Atkinson Biography At the end of the 19 century Joseph Atkinson bought the Toronto Star. He used his paper and did what he could to change Toronto form a Dickensian into a socially responsible city. This 45 minute documentary is produced by Michael Pieri and directed by Paul Dalby. Terry Martindale will be editing. Post production starts May 2005. Tulips from Margriet When Canadian soldiers liberated Holland at the end of World War II a profound friendship was started between the two countries. Two Canadian veterans along with Dutch civilians recount tales of courage and heroism as they remember events from 60 years ago. Citizen’s groups in Canada and The Netherlands twin the cities of Burlington and Apeldoorn to keep the friendship alive. This 60 minute documentary was produced and directed by Dominique Darmon of Maple Tulip Productions. Terry Martindale handled the entire post production needs for this project, from offline editing with Final Cut Pro to closed captioning and standards conversion and final delivery to the broadcaster. It will air: Dutch version on OMNI 1: May 7 at 10 p.m. and May 12 at 2 p.m. English version on OMNI 2: April 30 at 9 p.m. and May 14 at 7 p.m. There will also be a screening in Burlington at the Royal Botanical Gardens on April 30 at 6:45 p.m. The Canadian Embassy in Holland is organizing a screening at the Uitkijk Cinema in Amsterdam on April 19 at 2:30 p.m. The film will be screened as part of the Canada Netherland Friendship Day at the Royal Botanical Gardens Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, April 30 at 6 p.m. Buy a DVD of Tulips from Margriet.
